Hair Life Policies

Royal Hair

  1. Please arrive on time! Once doors are closed, no competitors or models will be allowed to enter. Security will be present. There will be no refunds given for late arrivals. No entry will be allowed past security after deadline.

  2. This competition is open to all licensed Professional Cosmetologists and Barbers Only.

  3. Competitor agrees to appear on site at the required CHECK-IN time or risk point deduction and/or Possible disqualification for non adherence to the time requirements. Our competitions are viewed on Main stage and have extensive Run of Show obligations. Tardiness is heavily penalized. There will be NO REFUNDS issued for disqualifications due to tardiness or absences.

  4.  There can be traffic delays and detours near or around K&K Event Space.  Please use your time wisely and plan your route to the facility ahead of time.

  5. This competition is limited to models, ages 18 and older of any race, creed, or nationality

  7. ​By participating in this Contest, all entrants and model’s irrevocably and forever agree to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless The hair Life Network & K&K Event Space and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim, liability, injury, damage, death, loss, expense, or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt, travel related to, inability to use, or use of any prize.  Entry and/or acceptance of prize(s) constitutes permission for the Sponsor and their agencies to use the participating entrants’ and models’ name, address (city and state) and/or likeness for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation or authorization, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, including without limitation Internet, unless prohibited by law.

  8. Children under 17 are NOT allowed back stage or in the area for this competition. 

  9. Competitors may enter upto three models. 

  10. NO additional time will be given for additional models on main stage. All creations must be completed for both models in the time allotted. NO ADDITIONAL TIME WILL BE GIVEN ON MAIN STAGE.

  11. The model(s) will receive complimentary passes for the day of the competition. 

  12. When you enter the registration area, your model needs to be with you. Check in together. You will have 45 minutes to finish her look before going on main stage.

  13. Report to the competition area with your model completely ready for presentation. If your piece is too large to come already completed, you will have a maximum of 1 hour to install your piece in the Competition Prep Area.

  14. All hairpieces and postiches can be totally pre-done and brought onsite. They are to be positioned and attached on the models head in the Competition Prep area during the allotted time frame.

  15. Competitor will provide all materials, attire, hair, tools, and equipment needed for the completion of this finished look.

  16. Wigs are NOT allowed.  

  17. The texture disposition of the model’s hair does not matter. (Permed, locs, natural)

  18. We will not have access to hooded hair dryers. Hand held blow dryers will be allowed during the competition.

  19. Contestants and models must remain until the judges’ decisions are announced.

  20. Only the Competitor and Model are allowed in the Competition Prep Room and backstage during Prep time. All show attendees will be allowed to see all creations and attachments on main stage during the competition.

  21. Competitor and model may only do “touching up” to the models make-up. Time will not allow for a full face of makeup.

  22. When the model  and the competitor are not the same person, the model is not allowed to assist with any portion of hair completion. Only holding the hairpiece for pinning is allowed.

  23. No other people are allowed on Main stage or in the Competition prep area or backstage to assist; i.e. make-up artist, wardrobe specialist, etc. 

  24. If you are the model and the competitor, you can only accept help with accessing supplies but not with styling or  positioning.

  25. Any method of setting, gels, fixatives and coloring agents may be used to achieve the finished hairstyle.

  26. Hairpieces and postiche must be completed prior to coming on site to be attached during the competition on Main Stage. All ornamentation and head pieces must be attached to the hairstyle during the designated time visibly before the live audience.

  27. Judging will be done on a visual basis only. Your creation will not be disassembled.

  28. Body Art is allowed with ABSOLUTELY NO nudity. ALL GENITALIA  MUST BE COVERED OR RISK BEING DISQUALIFIED.

  29. This is a Royal Fantasy competition.  Judging will include hair, headdress, clothing, make-up, nails, and accessories.  Entries will be judged on the total appearance of Total Royal Fantasy Look. Please make sure that you are complete in every area.

  30. No live animals, reptiles, or fish are allowed as props. The Hairpiece(s) cannot cover more than 1/3 of the models head. (Points will be deducted). For clarity: 2/3 of the models hair and head must be visible and uncovered.

  31. Hair and jewelry are both included in the total size of the foundation attached to the models head.

  32. Please note: When beads, rhinestones, and other ornaments are attached to the headpiece, and touching the models head, they add in to the total headpiece foundation.

  33. Hair ornaments must be made of 85% hair.  The entire design must be made of 85% hair. (Human or synthetic hair of any color). 

  34. The finished style must be part of the model’s total look. The hairstyle and attire must compliment each other.  The attire must tie-in with the hairstyle and theme.  

  35. It is the responsibility of the the competitor to make sure that the model has had food and ample hydration (water) before and during the competition.

  36. The artist/competitor must sign and submit the official entry application agreeing with the Rules and Regulations and the required fee(s). Also competitor and model must sign a liability waiver or risk disqualification. In doing so, the competitor agrees to abide by the decision of the judges.

  37. PROHIBITED looks: No grotesque – No Horror – No Cult – No Monsters or you will be disqualified. ALL finished looks must be based in BEAUTY. Dark painted and fierce faces may be considered Horror from past TV shows and Super Hero looks. If your child will run from the look, it will not be suitable for our stage.

  38. ALL COMPETITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELONGINGS!!! The Hair Life Network will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. NO Exceptions!

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

​

  • By paying your registration fee, or agreeing to compete in an invitation only competition, you are agreeing to all the General Rules and Regulations as well as the individual rules and Regulations of each competition.
  • Only currently licensed Cosmetologists or enrolled students qualify for entry into the event.
  • No Children are allowed back stage or in the area for this competition
  • All competitors must be present in the competition area no less than 15 minutes prior to their competition check in time. Competitor(s) may set up 15 minutes prior to competition. There will be a briefing on rules 15 minutes prior to competition. Any competitor arriving late will not be allowed to compete unless prior arrangements have been made with the Competition Director. Arriving late during check in time will result in forfeiture of all investments. Please plan travel accordingly
  • NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. Please arrive on time. Main Stage is on a Strict time schedule.
  • Models may not blow dust, use noise makers, throw items into the audience, or twirl a baton or perform any onstage theatrics. Models are prohibited from performing flips and stunts while on stage. Points will be deducted. If a staff member asks the model to stop breaking these rules it will be at the discretion of the floor judge to disqualify the competitor for inappropriate model behavior.
  • No nudity, grotesque, horror, cult, racial profiling attire or monsters allowed.

  •  Only tables and chairs will be provided at the competition’s briefing site. (Electricity will be provided only when indicated in specific rules and electrical appliances must be 110 volts and no more than 1500 watts.) Ceramic stoves and Marcel Irons will not be allowed. Flat irons and curling  are allowed.

  • Electricity is not available on the stage. Chairs, microphones, and other props are to be outlined to the production specialist.

  •  

  • ALL COMPETITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELONGINGS!! 

  • Hair Life Network or K&K Event Space is not responsible for items left on the stage, theft or lost items. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please see the specified site for Lost and Found.

  • Absolutely no persons are allowed in the competition prep room but contestant and model. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Otherwise points will be deducted.

  •  

  • Hair Life Network or K&K Event Space is not responsible for any injuries incurred during the competition. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

  • Food is not permitted in the briefing room, backstage  or on the competition floor.

  • At no time will smoking be permitted

  • If at any time a competitor has an issue with the results or decisions of judges it is mandatory that it be discussed in a respectful manner.  The Judges will be available after the competition to ask questions and give constructive critique for future competitions. If the competitor insists on acting disrespectful, it will be at the discretion of the judge & Hair Life Network to not allow that competitor to be removed from the competition and/or removed from premise.   ALL decisions are final.
